Day 3: AIPPI World Congress Meeting (#Istanbul- Turkey): A packed day full of activities, sessions, propositions and intervention in the plenary sessions. The first one was on the resolution to the Patent Study Question - Doctrine of Equivalents and it was attended by #UAE delegation / members - Bassel El Turk, Christine El Khoury, Munir Suboh and Nevin Jacob Koshy. While we have yet to witness the shaping of the doctrine of equivalence from the UAE perspective, it is encouraging to note the extensive international discourse surrounding such subjects. Another session on Responsibility of online marketplaces for online infringement of industrial property rights. It was a very interesting topic to discuss proposition of special digital law regime to apply on the online marketplace (OM). National group was represented by Bassel, Hady KHAWAND Munir and Christine. The day cannot finish without something special from the UAE group. Our members attending the Congress and some colleagues, members of neighbouring countries groups, got together for a causal, ad hoc and a friendly social networking and professional catch up during the day. Communication among the members is important to keep advancing our profession and see a brighter future for the #IP communtiy.
